DrizzleRoot was founded by Emma Johnson, a landscape architect frustrated by the lack of effective watering solutions for urban spaces. After designing rooftop gardens for high-end residential buildings in New York, she recognized that traditional irrigation methods wasted water and failed to meet plants' needs in constrained urban environments.
What began as a small workshop in Brooklyn has grown into a team of 28 irrigation specialists, horticulturists, and engineers serving clients across the Northeast. We've installed over 1,200 systems in spaces ranging from tiny fire escapes to expansive rooftop farms.
Our patented RootTarget™ drip technology was developed through years of research in partnership with Cornell University's Urban Horticulture Institute. This innovation allows precise water delivery adjusted for different plant types, soil conditions, and microclimates within a single system.
Our Core Values
- Water Stewardship: We believe every drop counts, especially in urban environments where water resources are strained.
- Plant-Centric Design: Our systems adapt to plants' needs rather than forcing plants to adapt to the system.
- Urban Adaptation: We specialize in solutions that work within the unique constraints of cities.
- Education: We empower clients with knowledge to become better gardeners.
- Sustainable Growth: We measure success by both business metrics and environmental impact.
The DrizzleRoot Difference
Unlike traditional irrigation companies that simply install equipment, we take a holistic approach to plant hydration:
- Our systems are designed by horticulturists first, engineers second
- We use proprietary moisture modeling to predict plant needs
- All installations include ongoing performance monitoring
- We offer guaranteed water savings with all our systems
- Our team completes 200+ hours of continuing education annually
We're proud to have been recognized by the Urban Green Council for our water conservation efforts and by the American Horticultural Society for our innovations in small-space gardening.
